The World Is Broken - - But There Is Still Good!

And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in. Isaiah 58:12 (ESV)

Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21 (ESV)

Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. Psalm 34:14 (ESV)

It is not hard to look around and see that the world God has created is broken. It is broken due to the everyday choices of His children, humankind. From the fall of Adam and Eve till now, God’s children have consistently followed their sin-filled thoughts and desires trying to fill the empty vacuum inside. They use things, people, and situations that are temporary and can never permanently fill the desires within. To see the brokenness of this world, all one has to do is look at the environment and the decay all around. One can look at how humans treat each other and the evil of racism, misogyny, sexual predators/sexual sins, greed, lying, cheating, and manipulation. The fallout from these sinful behaviors as well as many others, has caused untold damage and harm throughout the centuries till the present day.

God has warned of human behavior towards this world and each other all throughout the Bible. From the Old to the New Testament, you can see the sickness and travesty that human beings have caused due to their choices. However, all is not doom and gloom. There is evil and darkness in this world however, there is God’s light as well. Throughout the Bible, you will see God‘s people stepping up and allowing His light to shine through them, and in turn, shine that light of love, grace, and mercy to others, and to the world.

All of God’s people can show up and do good. One way is by standing up for what is right and not ignoring those being mistreated. Whether it is caring for those who are marginalized: the immigrant, the disabled, the elderly, a single mom, those being profiled due to race or religion, and so on. There are many ways God‘s people are standing up and doing what needs to be done to care for one another. Being kind, compassionate, and caring is what God expects; what He needs from all of us and it is really not hard to do. One can be kind to a stranger they just met, one can show kindness to a person who waits on them, or to the cashier who rings up a purchase. One can show compassion and caring by joining ministries/missions where they feed those who are food insecure, helping the homeless, volunteering in orphanages as well as senior facilities. When it comes to God’s world, picking up trash thrown down, disposing of plastic properly, and teaching loved ones to do the same, so as not to pollute our land and our oceans. Halting the excessive consumption of electricity and natural resources. All of these are displays of appreciation and caring for God’s people and for God’s world.

I encourage everyone to seek God and look to do good in any way you can. If we all seek to do good daily, seek to spread God’s light of love across the world, by the grace of God, we can stamp out the evil and darkness that is trying to take over.

The world is broken but, be God’s instrument of good to repair the breach that sin and darkness have caused.

Blessings,

Angélique 💐
