Life - - Make The Most Out Of It!

Yet you do not know the least thing about what may happen in your life tomorrow. What is secure in your life? You are merely a vapor [like a puff of smoke or a wisp of steam from a cooking pot] that is visible for a little while and then vanishes [into thin air]. Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and we will do this or that.”

James 4:14-15 (AMP)

But God said to him, ‘You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’ “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”  Luke 12;20-21 (NLT)

Having material possessions is a wonderful blessing from God but, they cannot, or rather, should not replace human compassion and interaction. Our highest priority in life should be to do God’s will; to seek to care for one another and to care for the world He created. Our priorities in life should not be to accumulate perishable materials and goods or to seek constant praise and accolades. When we have earthly possessions and praises from others it is definitely wonderful to experience however, we need to place everything in its proper perspective. Out of everything we accumulate and all the accolades we gain, what is most important should be the work we do for Christ, as outlined throughout the Bible.

In this world, it is easy to become caught up in accumulating possessions and placing a lot of emotional attachment and emphasis on what we possess. Whether it's houses, cars, land/real estate, vacations, jobs, positions of power and influence, and the list can go on and on. God does allow us to obtain some of these things while here on Earth however, we need to monitor and be aware of our attitude towards our status in life and our possessions. I have heard it said that “you do not see a U-Haul in the cemetery. It is nice to accumulate stuff while we are here on Earth, but the truth of the matter is, you cannot take it with you when you leave this world.

It is easy to become distracted due to the busyness of life and seeking financial wealth and possessions. It is also easy to forget that God is the ultimate owner of these possessions and the one who gives them to His children. We sometimes get it twisted thinking it is all about how we have accomplished various goals or we are solely responsible for our material possessions. However, the truth is, everything we possess and the abilities we have been given, all come from God.

As the verses above state, we do not know what will happen in the future. Today is what we have been given and where we can make a difference in God’s world and with His people. My prayer is that as we move forward in life, we’ll seek to have God and His will as the center focus of our lives in everything we say and do.

Blessings,

Angélique 💐
