The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! John 1:29 (ESV)
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 (ESV)
Many people believe the true nature/mission of Jesus Christ’s ministry was to heal and to show us how to live and interact with each other here on Earth. His ministry did heal and show us the way to live Godly lives however, His goal and true reason for coming to Earth was to be the ultimate sacrifice for the remission of sins for all humankind.
When Jesus started His ministry, many believed in Him and thought He would be the new religious/military/political leader who would help overthrow the Romans. They thought He would be the one to lead the Jewish people to preeminence on the face of the Earth. Many were upset when Jesus’s life and mission they had envisioned did not happen.
Then others felt He came to Earth to perform miracles and healings. While He was here, Jesus healed those with blindness, skin diseases, and other health conditions, as well as raising some from the dead.
Then others felt He came to teach us how to live and interact with each other. He showed us how to be kind and show empathy to others. He showed us how we should not think of ourselves only or think that we are better than others. From the Good Samaritan story to the feeding of thousands using a boy's lunch, Jesus did teach us how to be kind and care for one another.
However, in the end, Jesus Christ’s ultimate manifesto was to be the sacrificial lamb that was to die for the remission of our sins. His sacrifice was so that we, His children, will have a right to eternal life with Him in Heaven. By renouncing sin and giving our lives to Him, by believing in Him as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, the promised Messiah, we can be a part of His Eternal Kingdom.
So, as we celebrate Jesus’s resurrection on Sunday, if you have not already done so, seek to commit your life to Him and to live according to His precepts as outlined throughout His Holy Word, the Bible. Begin now by giving your life to Him fully, as you look to live a life pleasing to God. This will be the best decision you have ever made.
Blessings,
Angélique
